Somantix publishes The Ledger because we believe AI-enabled media workflows, and their outputs, demand new infrastructure: trust and provenance.
As professional artists, we need to protect our outputs with clear usage policies, prove our creative intent, and disclose where we use AI.
Organizations and their vendors need tool use that's auditable, enforceable policies, verified union compliance, and data ownership rights that hold up inside and outside their own walls. They also need the AI provider terms that governed the work at the moment it was made, not the version posted today. All of it at the granularity of a single file, not a stale quarterly compliance report.
This is not just our view: The EU AI Act and California's SB 942, both operative in 2026, are making AI provenance and disclosure a legal requirement, not a best practice.
Our mission: Project-based policy building, verifiable provenance and AI disclosure for creative work, built on the C2PA standard.
